Fishing: How To Fish: Basics

Let's start with the basics... When we talk about fishing on this web site we talk about Freshwater Fishing (inland lakes, rivers and streams); Saltwater Fishing (oceans, bays and other coastal areas); and Flyfishing, (either freshwater or saltwater), using the graceful, traditional flyfishing gear and methods.

As soon as you start fishing (or start again), you'll most likely want to go often. So it is a good idea to start with the kind of fishing that you can do near home.

Click on the type of fishing you'd like to start with below and we'll tell you how to get a grip on a pole and cast away into the wonderful world of fishing.
