| : Marais des Cygnes River |
Located 5 miles N of Pleasanton, Linn County.
The Wildlife Area provides access to portions of Marais des Cygnes River, Big Sugar Creek, Boicourt Lake, Middle Creek, North Sugar Creek, as well as 7 major and many smaller marsh units.
Marais des Cygnes River is an excellent fishery for all species of catfish. Marsh Unit G can be good for crappie, white bass, channel catfish, and bullheads depending on timing and duration of river floods. Other listed sites are generally poor. Note: good bowfishing opportunities occur during unit dewatering and during flooding events in many springs. Fish salvages often allowed during dewatering of marsh units.
River flow can be obtained from: http://www-ks.cr.usgs.gov/Kansas/rt/html/06916600.html
Note: regulations on Marais des Cygnes National Wildlife Refuge are not the same as on the Wildlife Area. Users should be aware of their location and the appropriate regulations.
