Hunters help with conservation

A bill that would have allowed bowhunting in New Jersey on Sundays was recently withdrawn from a state Senate committee, but nobody seems sure why.
The answer depends on whom you ask.
According to a report given to me from a representative of the state Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, it was withdrawn by those presenting it to the committee.
Yet according to correspondence from those representing anti-hunting interests, "hikers, environmentalists, and animal activists joined together to defeat this bill," and that "the majority of New Jersey residents was heard."
Interesting claim, as the bill can be presented again at any time, according to my understanding, and I am aware of no poll or study that suggests that this view may in fact represent the majority of New Jersey citizens.
