Boat Parade Lights Up Season - Holiday spirit defies warm temperatures

An estimated 10,000 onlookers lined the Cape Coral Boat-A-Long parade route to watch boats adorned with thousands of twinkling lights sail by.
As the last rays of the sun turned the sky pink and a sliver of moon shone, boats glittering with holiday lights circled Bimini Basin impatiently waiting to start down the 8-mile parade route. At least 120 boats participated in the 25th annual event.
On land, parade watchers enjoyed holiday music by the New Renditions jazz band and unseasonably warm weather at Four Freedoms Park.
For the Petrow family of Cape Coral, the boat parade is a holiday tradition.
They staked out their tiki hut early and brought plenty of pizza and meatballs to last the night.
