Redfield city council decides actions for fishing derby
By Scott Loftis
REDFIELD --The Redfield City Council allocated $300 to the city's park commission on Monday to purchase prizes for a youth fishing derby to be held May 25.
The money will be used to buy fishing equipment for winners in the derby's three age groups. Trophies for the winners as well as food for concessions has been donated. Any money left after the equipment is purchased will go to the park commission.
Divisions will be ages 1 through 5 years, 6 through 9 years and 10 through 14 years.
In other business the council voted to pay $255 in mowing fees from the city's general fund rather than from the street department and decided to give further consideration to updating the city's building codes.
The council also heard from Redfield Police Chief Jack Wakefield, who said plumbing problems at the police department have been repaired. Wakefield said some electrical repairs still need to be made to the building and suggested that the city may need a new police department building in the near future.
