Dragon boat races may not fly

ST. CHARLES -- With the Fox River swollen from recent rains, the fate of the dragon boat races scheduled for this weekend remains uncertain.
But organizers said the Pride of the Fox RiverFest, a three-day downtown festival, will go on, with or without the mighty dragons.
"What's so ludicrous about all this is the weather forecast is fabulous," said Joy Meierhans, RiverFest coordinator.
Forecasts call for mild temperatures and mostly sunny skies for today, Saturday and Sunday.
But the rains that deluged the area earlier this week brought the Fox River six inches above flood stage Wednesday, making it unsafe to traverse with boats.
