Game and Fish hopes to raise license fees

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming Game and Fish Department officials hope to win approval of a plan to raise license fees in the state by 20 percent in order to keep up with inflation.

The problem is that inflation is raising the department's costs, but the agency's income has not changed, said deputy director Bill Wichers.

Game and Fish officials were to bring their proposal to the Wyoming Legislature's Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Interim Committee, which meets in Laramie Tuesday and Wednesday.

For Cheyenne resident Kim Newman and her husband, Frank, hunting and fishing puts meat on their table year-round.

Both Newmans hunt, and Kim Newman said she likes to fish.
