Millennium Park available for fishing
By Mike Marsee
For all the uses area residents have found for Millennium Park in its brief existence, few probably think of the park as a good fishing spot.
But fish have been reeled in right in the middle of Millennium Park this spring and summer, and plenty more are there for the taking.
The park's 2.3-acre pond is full of trout, and there are plenty of opportunities to catch them. The pond will be open for fishing on Saturdays and Sundays through July.
Danville-Boyle County Parks and Recreation Department director John Drake said the availability of fishing cements the park's reputation as an all-purpose recreation facility.
"It's exciting for us to see kids down there," Drake said. "It's a different type of recreation we haven't had."
