Saltwater Fishing workshop for children
PALM COAST -- The Friends of Washington Oaks State Gardens will offer a Kid's Saltwater Fishing Workshop on Saturdays, Sept. 14 and Oct. 19, to introduce children to the basics of saltwater fishing.
The targeted age group will be 10-15 years old and Park Rangers will lead the workshop. They will share some techniques that anglers use to catch fish, the importance of conservation and angler safety.
Participants will learn to identify saltwater fish species commonly caught in this area, and will learn how to use a fishing rod and reel. Each workshop will be hands-on, and participants will fish in the Intracoastal Waterway. A grilled lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks will also be provided.
If desired, participants may bring their own lunch.
Workshop hours will be 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and the fee is $20 per participant. All fishing gear will be furnished for use during the workshop.
