SRA gives boost to boat ramp project

A long-awaited Green Street boat ramp project got a much needed financial boost this week from the Sabine River Authority.
Orange mayor Brown Claybar announced Tuesday night at an Orange city council meeting that the authority had agreed to contribute $150,000 to the boat ramp project.
The boat ramp will be one of the first stages of the proposed waterfront development project Claybar said.
Claybar said Wednesday he had attended the July 11 board meeting of the authority and made a presentation seeking the agencies participation in the project.
"I presented with concept drawings, a foot print of what could be the premiere ease of access point to the Sabine River," Claybar said.
