Boaters beware
While the regular lobster season doesn't begin until Tuesday, commercial fishermen will be placing tens of thousands of traps in Florida Keys waters for a "soak" period before the actual harvest begins.
Boaters should pay extra attention to the colored buoys. The buoys are attached to the traps below using black polypropylene line, which floats on the surface and can easily become entangled in propellers. If boaters must cut snared trap lines from their propellers, they should tie the ends of the line so the traps will not be lost.
