Smith announces money for fish
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sen. Smith announced that Oregon will receive millions in federal funds for salmon recovery efforts and the groundfish industry. Mr. Smith said the funds will help Oregon continue its "Herculean" efforts to recover coastal salmon species and sustain the groundfish industry, which has struggled in the wake of a groundfish fishery disaster.
Over $15 million will go toward hatcheries and other facilities on the Columbia River. An additional $14 million is being directed to the implementation of the Oregon Plan for Salmon.
