TALLAHASSEE -- State Rep. Joyce Cusack grew up among the pristine environs of West Volusia and grew to love natural areas and the outdoors.
That background has steered her votes on environmental issues during last year's session and led to recognition Thursday from the League of Conservation Voters.
Cusack, D-DeLand, was ranked No. 4 among 120 House members in votes friendly to environmental and conservation issues, the best ranking among Volusia and Flagler County lawmakers.
"I'm honored," Cusack said. "I love nature and we must be good stewards of the environment, so our children and grandchildren can enjoy the beautiful land."
On the other end of the scale in the rankings is Sen. Jim King, R-Jacksonville, who represents Flagler and part of Volusia County.
