Fish pens receive renovation
By Stephen Mercer
With larger and safer conditions for the fish being raised in Electric City's fish pens, anglers should look forward to better fishing next year.
That's because the pens will grow and release more fish than ever before. Promoters of Wildlife and Environmental Resources or POWER President Carl Russell said volunteers spent 384 man hours in the last five weeks building a 204-foot plankway, putting in new anchors on the pens and reconfiguring the log boom.
The new design has two pens sitting on each side of the plankway.
He said new nets have been designed to hold a maximum of either 50,000 rainbow or kokanee fingerlings in each net. The previous nets held 20,000 each.
