Catch a fish, catch a smile
By Ron Wilson, [email protected]
Peggy Vejar's Hooked on Fishing for the Disabled was held Saturday in Merced on Lake Yosemite's Scout Island.
I arrived late at 8:30 a.m. and Matt Vejar was busy cleaning fish.
I rigged up one of the rods so I could help whomever Peggy sent my way.
Peggy had her hands full trying to see that everyone was taken care of and pairing them up with volunteers so that everyone was having a good time catching fish.
This is a wonderful event that Peggy shepherds each year with the help of volunteers, the Merced Fly Fishing Club, Merced County Parks Department, Merced Irrigation District, Merced Irrigation Employees Club, Calaveras Trout Farm, California Department of Fish and Game and Raley's (who joined in this year) to help support this event.
