Baughman resigns as head of Game and Fish
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming Game and Fish Department Director John Baughman has submitted his resignation effective May 17.
Baughman has been a Game and Fish employee since 1974 and became the department's director in 1996. Baughman said most Western state wildlife directors hold their jobs only about half that long.
"It is simply time to try something different. I have no immediate plans other than a little more fishing and looking for a job," he said.
Gov. Jim Geringer said Monday he will consult with the Game and Fish Commission on appointing an interim director and beginning the search for a permanent director.
"John Baughman has worked hard to uphold the quality and integrity of the Game and Fish Department," Geringer said. "His job hasn't been easy, but John's work has been the best."
