Boat show guru expands into helping design marinas
By Joseph Mann

Kaye Pearson, the Fort Lauderdale-based boat show organizer, is an expert at building temporary marinas from floating docks, only to dismantle them when a show ends.

Now Pearson, who produces the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show each year, as well as other boat shows and events throughout the state, is using his skills to advise others -- including international clients -- how to design and build marinas that last a lot longer.

Pearson, the founder and owner of Yachting Promotions Inc., has joined forces with three other professionals in a new company called International Marinas LLC, a Fort Lauderdale firm that provides consulting and management services such as site selection and acquisition for marinas, project design and project management.

Joining Pearson in the new enterprise are Walt McCrory, a real estate developer; Edward D. Stone Jr., an architect with international experience in commercial project design, and Bob Moss, chairman and chief executive officer of Centex Construction Group, a large commercial builder.

International Marinas recently won a contract to work on designing a marina planned for Cap Cana, a multi-billion dollar resort complex under development on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic.
