Pontiac Silverdome Announces New Boat, Fishing & Recreation Show
PR Newswire for Journalists, [email protected]

PONTIAC, Mich., Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pontiac Silverdome today announced plans to host the first boat show of the 2003 calendar year in metropolitan Detroit. The new Boat, Fishing & Recreation Show will be held at the facility Jan. 8-12, 2003. More than 50 manufacturers will be on hand to display new boats, fishing gear and outdoor equipment for the 2003 season.

The event marks the first time the Silverdome will handle the production and marketing of a show of this nature.

"For many years the Silverdome has provided the largest boat, fishing, and recreation show in Oakland County, and this promises to be the best ever," says Eric Walker, executive director, Pontiac Silverdome.

While the show will draw attendees from all over southeast Michigan, the concentration of Oakland County residents who are active in boating and fishing will largely contribute to another incredibly successful show at the Silverdome. Scarborough Research indicates that Oakland County residents are 27 percent more likely to power boat, 127 percent more likely to sail boat, 42 percent more likely to hike or backpack, and above the market average to be active in fishing.

"The Silverdome brings an enthusiastic crowd that is ready to buy," comments Kim Schultz of Wolverine Tackle Company, one of the many vendors at the show.

Brian Kopek, General Manager of Metro Boat Sales in Harrison Township adds, "We've experienced higher sales volumes this fall than in prior years, which should bode well for 2003."

Show hours are Wednesday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 10 from 3:00 to 9:30 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tickets are $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children ages six to 14. Children under the age of five receive free admission. Tickets are available at the Silverdome box office.
