MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- An inventory clearance sale of new
2001 and earlier boats, utilizing an exclusive Internet site --
http://www.boatcash.com -- to offer factory-direct cash discount vouchers by
e-mail, will be conducted simultaneously by 16 leading boat brands
August 10-19.
The boat companies, all part of Minneapolis-based Genmar Holdings, Inc.,
will offer extra "closeout" cash discounts on more than 250 different
aluminum and fiberglass models through almost 1,000 participating dealers. Virtually
all types of craft, from fishing boats, ski boats and runabouts to pontoons,
cuddies and luxury cruisers, are included in this cyber-sales event, the
first of its kind in the marine industry.
Boating and fishing enthusiasts who access the boatcash.com site during
the Worldwide Internet Boat Clearance will find information on all boats
available. A click on a specific model will result in a cash voucher for
that model being e-mailed immediately to the Internet site visitor. The voucher
will indicate the discount amount for that model in U.S. dollars and carry
the name and location of the nearest participating purchase/delivery dealership
for that brand.
"Genmar is providing this unique program to give boaters an unusual
buying opportunity, and to help our retail dealers clear out remaining pre-2002
inventories to make room for the 2002 models which are now in production,"
said Irwin L. Jacobs, Genmar Chairman.
Genmar, with 17 brands, 14 manufacturing centers and 7,000 employees in
the U.S. and Canada, is the world's largest builder of recreational boats
and the industry's technological leader.
Brands featured in the Worldwide Internet Boat Clearance are Aquasport,
Carver, Crestliner, Four Winns, Glastron, Hydra-Sports, Logic, Lund,
Javelin, Larson, Lowe, Ranger, Seaswirl, Stratos, Trojan and Wellcraft.
